The Environmental Working Group (EWG), a nonprofit organization promoting policies that protect health world wide, published its 2015 Shopper’s Help guide Pesticides in Produce [1]. It found almost two-thirds from the over 3,000 samples tested had pesticide residue. Further, the learning revealed when using 165 different pesticides of all the samples tested.

It’s important to note the pesticide testing was conducted after the produce has been prepared simply because it could well be inside a typical home. For instance, in advance of testing blueberries were washed and bananas were peeled.

Then the EWG evaluated the final results and compiled this Dirty Dozen list depending on factors including the quantity of samples testing positive for pesticides plus the variety of pesticides found of these foods.

Dirty Dozen PLUS

In accessory for the Dirty Dozen list, the EWG has added Dirty Dozen PLUS foods, which highlights produce contaminated with trace quantities of highly dangerous pesticides. This season, it found frequent types of kale, collard greens, and hot peppers containing insecticides damaging man’s neurological system.

Just Say “Pass” for the Pesticides: Buy Organic

You needn’t give up eating foods to the Dirty Dozen list. Instead, after it is possible and whenever it’s available, choose organic when buying a lot of these produce.

If eating organic isn’t an option-and, truth to say, organic could be pricier and difficult to uncover sometimes-make guaranteed to rinse the fruits or veggies thoroughly as you gently scrub. It will not remove all traces of pesticides, but it surely can help to eliminate your exposure.
